Animal Chiropractic in Portland
Like their human counterparts, large and small animals can benefit from chiropractic care and its related modalities, which can help with long-term longevity and quality of life.
As our furry friends move through life, we may notice they start to suffer from joint restriction, move awkwardly, or perhaps they just never fully recover from an injury.
Adjustments are the best way to reset the nervous system and promote motion through the body, allowing it to regain function.

Small Animal Adjustments
With our small animals, chiropractic adjustments allow us to set a baseline for where the animal is with their wellness and rule out more significant illnesses or physical limitations. It often happens as a slow, gradual build over time, with restrictions in movement and motion and visible joint pain in your dog or cat. As small animals get older, we start to see a quicker decline as soon as their movement is limited. Once they start showing hip weakness or difficulty getting up and down steps and being unable to walk as far, additional limitations start to set in, and their quality of life diminishes.
When small animals begin to receive adjustments, you will see their real baseline of where they are and how they’re feeling. It then makes you more aware of when their physical limitations begin to build up again and helps rule out those larger health issues. In our practice, we find that more than 90 percent of the time, their physical pain and discomfort is a musculoskeletal issue that begins to clear once they undergo gentle adjustments.
With a more active life, vet bills go down, and quality of life is high. Within a couple of weeks and a few visits, it’s likely you will see a significant change.
Equine Adjustments

With equine patients, many of them are being used in performance-based ways. Their demands are higher than a dog and cat, and we focus our chiropractic adjustments on those physical demands. Through consistent care, it is possible for them to feel—and perform—their optimal best.
A love for horses is what brought Dr. Whitney Phillips to chiropractic for animals. Growing up as an avid rider and competitor, her family used an equine chiropractor, and she saw a night-and-day difference in the horse’s performance.
Typically, Dr. Phillips will visit the horse or horses on the farm and treat them on-site. It includes different techniques and setups from what practitioners will use for humans, but the goal is the same—we want to improve joint function and assess their movement. Appointments usually take a little less than a half hour.
